The candidate should have at least 3 years of experience managing a team and overseeing software release processes in a software development organization. Demonstrated success shipping cross-platform products across mobile (Android & iOS) and desktop client environments is required. Strong analytical skills and experience with metrics, telemetry, and data platforms like SQL, Looker, Redash, or Tableau are necessary. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, release tooling, version control systems, issue tracking systems (Bugzilla, Jira, GitHub), Apple App Store/Google Play release processes, staged rollout best practices, and desktop distribution platforms is expected. Experience in mobile release automation, experimentation frameworks, open source development, and knowledge of software quality, security, performance, and privacy considerations are also required.
The Release Management Manager will lead and support the team responsible for coordinating Firefox releases across Desktop, Android, and iOS. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute pre-release validation strategies, ensuring timely, stable, and secure product releases with comprehensive test coverage, risk analysis, and proactive issue management. The role involves designing and improving metrics, dashboards, and tools to inform decisions and track release health. Additionally, the manager will develop and implement processes to optimize release cadence and support phased rollout strategies, drive automation and operational excellence for release activities, and coordinate across time zones and stakeholders, including volunteers and community contributors.
