Responsibilities

  • Direct and set procurement strategies for critical electronics components
  • Identify opportunities and take action for cost reduction, quality, and technology in conjunction with internal business areas and projects
  • Implement sourcing strategies to support objectives in indirect or direct commodities, providing competitive advantage in materials, supplies, and services
  • Locate, analyze, and develop a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future commodity needs
  • Direct the negotiation and management of contracts/agreements for assigned commodities with medium to high risk and medium to high complexity
  • Provide guidance and direction to the purchasing/category management team on contract management, agreements, policy development, negotiation, and supply chain activities, including mentoring and coaching
  • Develop risk management strategies and recommend short- and long-term strategies with defined risk/benefit approaches; develop alternate sources for steady flow of goods, materials, and/or services
  • Maintain budget and perform analyses of costs related to labor rates, charges, time, and cost of materials
  • Monitor supplier capability and performance to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitments
  • Maintain and promote sound relationships with an extensive network of suppliers and the business community; connect team members with potential suppliers
  • Lead projects to assure all procurement activities are performed as required
  • Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement, including driving improvements with the supplier base
  • Develop cross-functional teams to understand division-wide needs and evaluate suppliers
  • Understand, track, and forecast key cost drivers and market factors for assigned commodities
