One year of prior retail or related experience (preferred)
Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
Ability to meet physical demands of the job (e.g., standing, handling products, bagging)

Responsibilities

Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total customer purchases
Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately
Weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
Use check-stand equipment (register, scanner, scale, belts) efficiently
Perform front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand (newspapers, periodicals, candy, etc.)
Ensure proper use of product identification and PLU's; report pricing or signage errors
Maintain understanding of store programs, product locations, in-store specials, and coupons; communicate to customers
Comply with company policies on security, cash handling, product handling, alcohol/tobacco sales
Maintain a clean and well-stocked department; comply with safety and sanitation procedures
Assist with stocking items as needed
Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines, Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations, and guest experience guidelines
May be assigned tasks in other departments based on need
