Care Management Support Assistant Internship

Position Overview

Humana is seeking transitioning military service members or Military Spouses for an unpaid internship opportunity to support the Medicaid Clinical Services team. This internship aims to optimize the interaction between Humana and its members, focusing on enhancing care for specific programs.

Programs Supported

  • Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC): Serves children with complex medical conditions by providing a safe, medically supervised daycare environment. Many PPEC facilities also offer transportation services.
  • Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Program: Focuses on proactively confirming and managing active authorizations for members to ensure continuity of care and timely access to behavioral health services.
  • Expanded Benefits Outreach: Assisting the SDoH Team with aged, expanded benefits backlog to maintain Market compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted outreach support for the expansion of ABA and PPEC programs.
  • Assist in confirming and managing active authorizations for ABA services.
  • Support the SDoH Team with backlog management for expanded benefits.
  • Contribute to improving access, care coordination, and the overall quality of life for pediatric members and their families.

Eligibility and Program Details

This internship is designed for individuals eligible for:

  • DoD SkillBridge Internship: For transitioning military service members.
  • Military Spouse Fellowship: For eligible military spouses.

Eligibility Confirmation: Interested candidates will be required to confirm their eligibility for these programs.

Funding: The internship is funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) or Hiring our Heroes (HoH), depending on military affiliation and status.

Learner Eligibility: New learners seeking completion of clinical hours to test/acquire state certifications/licenses are also considered.

Timeline and Conversion

  • Duration: The internship period can range from several weeks up to 6 months, depending on the program.
  • DoD Transitioning Service Members: Eligible to participate as allowed by DoD and command. Work a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. Must complete the internship prior to FTE eligibility.
  • Military Spouses: Work a 32-hour work week, Monday through Thursday. Report to Hiring our Heroes on Fridays for coaching continuation during the 11-week program.
  • Conversion: Anticipated conversion to a full-time equivalent (FTE) position at Humana following successful completion of the fellowship, if mutually agreed upon.
