Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Electronics with 3+ years of proven experience with installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of building automation systems, fire alarm systems, controllers, security systems, surveillance systems, or life safety systems
  • Technically savvy with effective problem-solving skills
  • Customer service mentality
  • Experience with electricity, electronics, and software programming for troubleshooting and repair
  • Knowledge of codes such as National Safety Code, NFPA Joint Industrial Conference standards, NICET, and National, State, and Local electrical codes

Responsibilities

  • Performs ongoing preventive maintenance of automation systems, BMCS, life safety systems, security systems, and surveillance systems (40%)
  • Maintains Building Automation System's LAN network, including workstations, networking cables, servers, and access points
  • Tests systems for proper operation, diagnoses and analyzes test results, and makes adjustments, modifications, or replacements of hardware
  • Uses technical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair systems and assists in planning maintenance and repair sequences
  • Orders electronic equipment and maintains inventory of parts
  • Creates changes and reevaluates programming language for building automation systems and equipment using software (30%)
  • Maintains documentation for system changes, informs users of impacts, and maintains software backups
  • Recommends and implements system enhancements and programs systems to meet operational needs
  • Assists facility staff in understanding programming options
  • Installs electronic equipment and hardware in accordance with various codes (15%)
  • Designs, builds, and installs control circuits for security, surveillance, life safety, HVAC, and automation systems
  • Serves as a resource to building services and security staff
  • Performs maintenance and installation on other electronic equipment (e.g., two-way radios, fitness equipment, digital recording systems)
  • Creates updates, schematics, and wiring diagrams; disables and removes obsolete equipment
  • Plays an integral role in building projects, researching best practices, incorporating safety and regulatory issues (15%)
  • Schedules, collaborates with, and supervises service contractors; expedites project progress
  • Maintains building automation database and develops related databases, including data import/export to company systems
