Candidates should possess 7+ years of combined experience as an SDET and/or Backend Developer, with a primary focus on distributed services and APIs. A minimum of 2-3 years building testing frameworks and tooling for a Cloud SaaS product is required. A computer science background or equivalent experience in programming styles, data structures, and algorithms is necessary. Experience with Go, Python, Scala, Java, C++, or JavaScript, along with knowledge of networking protocols, distributed systems, and layered architectures, is essential. Familiarity with Web Services (JSON, REST, RPC, XML, AWS EC2 & S3) and data storage technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL, Caching like PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, SQLServer, Redis, MemCache) is expected. Strong debugging skills to identify design flaws, race conditions, and performance bottlenecks in complex architectures are crucial. Experience with application, OS, web browser, or hardware compatibility testing, and computer/network security experience are also required.
The Engineer III, Cloud SDET will verify component, system integration, and application-level features and functionality to ensure reliability, accuracy, and performance meet quality standards. Responsibilities include reviewing engineering technical design documents and requirements, providing plans and strategies for building testability, and increasing automated test coverage. The role involves contributing to existing tools, frameworks, and related solutions, leveraging new open-source solutions to build new testing tools, and improving delivered product quality across the entire platform and applications. Collaboration on determining the root cause of production outages and adding quality improvements to prevent future outages is key. The engineer will also create and maintain test infrastructure, build necessary frameworks and packages for automation implementation, and delve into back-end development as needed to fully understand and drive test efforts.
