Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Manage all critical issues of the branch, including retail sales, sales growth, budgeting, attainment of gross margins, and all operational expenses
  • Ensure safety, customer service, inventory levels, accounts receivable, and resolution of personnel issues
  • Schedule and follow-up on deliveries; pre-call customers before scheduled deliveries
  • Schedule staffing to ensure excellent customer service at all times
  • Coach, mentor, and plan for development of direct reports
  • Ensure adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment
  • Manage P&L goals and objectives for the branch location; control costs and monitor fiscal performance compared to budget utilizing the EBITDA tool
  • Assist outside salespersons with preparing quotes, maintaining required literature, providing customer follow-up, and gathering sales leads
  • Maintain and upgrade selling skills and technical/product knowledge for the branch
  • Maintain a positive work environment for the branch in all direct or indirect communications
  • Provide backup support to sales representatives with order entry and customer inquiries
  • Coordinate with territory sales personnel to grow market sales and margins
  • Manage and oversee branch inventory, daily inventory cycle counts, and maintain showroom and warehouse appearance
  • Oversee recurring orders process for the branch on a daily basis
  • Post daily cash and charge orders for all tickets
  • Manage daily reconciliation of cash and bank deposits
  • Handle daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual reporting (e.g., open order edit list, quote list, purchase orders, invoice simulation)
  • Ensure internal and external customers receive prompt acknowledgment and service in a pleasant manner
  • Manage associate training in procedural areas such as Airgas Operating Standards and safety regulations; lead, coach, and mentor associates including motivation, performance evaluation, feedback, goal communication, team meetings
  • Recruit, retain, and develop the team to ensure success for branch goals
  • Provide leadership and management direction for day-to-day operations of the retail store including compliance, retail sales, warehousing, and distribution
  • Manage work hours and approve overtime in the timekeeping system; maintain hours within budget
  • Manage truck distribution, maintenance, and DOT compliance
  • Maintain store in a clean and orderly manner
  • Travel to surrounding Airgas locations to assist with branch coverage or training when short staffed or in absence of a branch manager
  • Act with care, adapt to environment, and engage to trust and grow per Be, Act, Engage framework
  • Perform any reasonable work request within qualifications
