Requirements
Educated to degree level standard in a technical subject such as Chemical/Mechanical Engineering/Science
Valid driver’s licence
Good experience in a relevant B2B role that entails management or selling highly differentiated products in a high technology market sector
Ideally applicable industry experience gained in sales, marketing or engineering roles
The capability to develop commercial and marketing strategies for product lines and marketing materials to support the Life science growth efforts
Excellent team skills and capability of successfully influencing at all levels to achieve win/win situations internally and externally of Air Products
The ability to learn quickly and understand in detail a wide range of market subject matter and gas use applications and use this understanding to develop value-added sales solutions for day to day use in the UK and Ireland
The ability to develop a broad understanding of the marketplace, near-term and long horizon development
Responsibilities
Act as technical and commercial link between our business support functions, sales and the customers to ensure best commercial practice for growth and customer retention for the long term
Take ownership of supply mode delivery strategy to the sector (in collaboration with the line manager) which will predominantly focus on CryoEase supply but will also own the Bulk and Packaged Gases strategy into the sector together with associated enabling and/or value-added services and sale of equipment offerings for the sector
Leadership of the product management for all offerings pertaining to the Life Science/Biomedical business in UKI, including detailed understanding of the marketplace, near-term and long horizon development, management of equipment partnerships where Air Products acts as a distributor (e.g. Biomedical freezers) or a sales channel (e.g. Super Insulated Vacuum Lines) and relationship with other Original Equipment Manufacturers
Develop a strategic business plan for the profitable development of the Life Science business within UKI. Ensure the UKI Speciality Products team work to enact this plan and drive business acquisition of new customers through sales principals that can deliver the growth targets at the highest possible profit margins. Knowledge transfer to BDM's, account managers and coaching them to use it fully
Achieve volume sales growth in the AP wallet share of the existing account UKI customer base by application of our value-added offerings to the Life Science market and commercial knowledge in partnership with appointed Account Managers
Guide our Marketing support functions to make sure we deliver value from marketing budgets by targeting customers in positive market sectors with modes of supply that can deliver best value to the UKI business. Being able to articulate market trends and information into strategy actions to support marketing teams
Responsible for all parts of the business process that can positively increase volume, revenue and profitability for the liquid gas, engineering and freezer store equipment product lines in the Life Science / Biomedical market
In cooperation with the Commercial team, Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing, external OEM partners and consultants, lead the product management and profitable development of the Life Science market sector for the UKI business
Extensive UK travel to customers, partners and Air Products sites
