Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and maintain active admission to a state Bar. A minimum of 5-6 years of business law experience is required, including in-house legal experience, with a strong preference for experience in data licensing or the market research industry. Law firm experience is preferred but not mandatory. The ideal candidate will be business-oriented, capable of recommending solutions and strategies clearly and concisely, and adept at managing multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong relationship-building skills, a collaborative approach, high accountability, motivation, transparency, integrity, candor, and a customer-focused mindset are essential.
The Associate General Counsel will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and closing commercial deals for NIQ's largest global clients and retailers. This includes providing rapid, practical, business-oriented legal advice to commercial leaders, reviewing and interpreting executed commercial contracts, licensing agreements, alliances, and other sophisticated transactions. The role involves drafting and negotiating confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, terms sheets, letters of intent, and transactional documents such as inbound/outbound licenses. Additionally, the Associate General Counsel will collaborate with the General Counsel, regional legal colleagues, business teams, and functional leaders on global legal initiatives, procurement, compliance, technology, privacy, data protection, and finance matters. Participation in legal department meetings and handling other assigned matters by the General Counsel are also key responsibilities.
