Field Medical Advisor

Position Overview

The Field Medical Advisor (FMA) role is pivotal in establishing and nurturing relationships within the medical community, including healthcare practitioners, policy makers, payers, and healthcare administrators. The FMA ensures understanding of Moderna’s science and data, and gathers insights from across the healthcare ecosystem. This role is dedicated to enhancing patient outcomes through peer-to-peer scientific exchange of Moderna’s mRNA platform science, fostering trust, and encouraging engagement through personalized and digital interactions. The FMA plays a key role in establishing Moderna's share of thought and insight with the medical and healthcare community.

Responsibilities

Strategic Engagement

  • Develop and execute territory engagement plans aligned to medical priorities.
  • Leverage a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare ecosystem and therapeutic areas to share Moderna’s science and data effectively and in alignment with company strategy and customer needs.

Communication Excellence

  • Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills to simplify complex scientific topics.
  • Understand beliefs, information, and thoughts shared by customers.
  • Engage a broad range of customers, employing tools like Moderna's Scientific Communications Platform and generative AI offerings to make engagement more impactful.

Medical Intelligence

  • Listen with true curiosity to gather and report robust beliefs, information, and thoughts from customers to inform broader medical insights.
  • Compile and analyze different types of information and opinions to identify unmet medical needs, advance medical knowledge, identify data gaps, and refine strategies to enhance patient care.

Stakeholder Interaction

  • Engage with Key Opinion Leaders, scientific societies, public health institutions (national/regional), advisory and professional bodies/associations, academic and research institutions, and advisory and regulatory bodies.
  • Apply strategic and empathetic listening and provide scientific support aligned with Moderna’s objectives.

Scientific Expertise

  • Engage in rich scientific dialogue about Moderna’s mRNA platform.
  • Share up-to-date clinical data and scientific concepts aligned to the scientific narrative across Moderna’s therapeutic areas, including clinical trial data and research findings.
  • Understand and engage in scientific dialogue on Health Economic (HEOR) and Real-World Data/Evidence (RWD/RWE) at a high level.

Enhancement of Patient Care and Outcomes

  • Collaborate with Moderna’s teams and healthcare professionals to understand problems and design solutions that enhance patient care and outcomes.

Management of Medical Strategies

  • Successfully execute medical engagement activities including advisory boards, partnerships, round tables, and conferences.
  • Successfully navigate Moderna’s processes related to Fellowships, Grants, Sponsorships, and Investigator Sponsored Studies.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Adhere to ethical standards and protocols.
  • Promptly document work in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Report adverse events and product quality complaints.
