Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in animal science or agriculture, which is preferred. Livestock experience is required, with swine or cattle experience being a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with basic computer skills. Overnight travel is also required.
The Alley Buyer is responsible for handling livestock, including sorting, counting, weighing, tattooing, and penning animals in a hog yard environment. They will learn and apply Tyson Pork Procurement Programs, carcass merit kill sheet information, and weight docks. The role involves acting as a station relief buyer for training and vacation coverage, and ensuring compliance with product safety, legality, and quality systems. They will also keep team members apprised on job functions to meet the requirements.
