Requirements

Candidates should possess strong execution skills with technical proficiency in software engineering or data science, preferably with Python and/or Go. Applied AI experience, including understanding generative AI models and techniques like prompt chaining, RAG, tool-calling, and fine-tuning, is essential. Experience in testing and quality assurance with a data-driven approach, along with data analysis skills to optimize user experience, is required. Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork are necessary, as is a growth mindset and awareness of ethical AI considerations and bias mitigation strategies. A solid understanding of education technology, curriculum development, and learning science is also needed.

Responsibilities

The AI Engineer will integrate AI into Khan Academy product features, collaborating with Product Management, Design, Engineering, and Content teams to develop tools and processes for AI implementation consistency and quality. Responsibilities include building AI-driven features for educational use cases, developing test datasets and evaluation criteria for AI outputs, and measuring, maintaining, and improving AI output quality through experimentation with prompting, scaffolding, and implementation architectures.
