Requirements

Self-starter capable of proactive management in auditing payroll and benefits areas
Ability to identify system gaps in Workday and work effectively to close them
Strong collaboration skills to work with the Manager, Total Rewards, Payroll & HRIS, and teams across the organization
Expertise in payroll processing, employee benefits administration, HRIS compliance, and auditing
Proficiency with Workday for audits, efficiency improvements, and corrections
Knowledge of year-end T4 processing, balancing, and reconciliations
Ability to maintain confidentiality, ensure compliance, and support operational efficiency
Experience creating documentation such as payroll manuals and SOPs

Responsibilities

Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding pay, tax deductions, and benefits
Complete Workday audits of current payroll practices
Support preparation for year-end T4 processing, including balancing and reconciliations
Identify Workday efficiency opportunities for payroll and collaborate with Alterra team to close system gaps
Audit benefit and RRSP accounts against Workday and implement necessary corrections
Create a payroll manual to document payroll processes
Develop applicable Payroll and Benefits SOPs to ensure role continuity
Administer bi-weekly payroll and benefits proactively
