Requirements

Candidates must have telecommunications or a related field of study/work, along with certifications in related telecom or networking fields, including a minimum of one certification. Fundamental knowledge of the OSI model, working knowledge of Ethernet Layer 2 Hardware and Software, and familiarity with Cisco IOS, Ciena, RAD, Alcatel-Lucent, Calix, and Fujitsu are required. Exposure to Network Design (LAN, WAN, and ISP) and troubleshooting, along with fundamental knowledge of all Ethernet Topologies, is necessary. Availability for overnight maintenance with vendors is also a requirement.

Responsibilities

The Activations Technician will be responsible for testing and implementing services at layers 1 and 2, including Ethernet configurations. Duties include managing product and systems knowledge, performing technical validations, pre-testing, troubleshooting, activation, and post-activation support for customers. This role involves completing activations for external customers, partnering with departments to troubleshoot issues, processing orders according to SLAs, and maintaining the network infrastructure. Responsibilities also include updating systems and databases, communicating with customers via phone, email, and ticketing, and participating in overnight cutovers. The technician will develop relationships with stakeholders, ensure safe practices, and efficiently manage tasks and information.
