Requirements

  • Available for full-time onsite work at a GM or supplier facility (location assigned based on business needs, preferences considered but not guaranteed)
  • Willing to use permanent address for relocation benefits administration if selected
  • Able to engage in short-term travel to suppliers/assembly plants

Responsibilities

  • Support development of manufacturing processes & technologies, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence, and flow of operations for effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities
  • Develop sequence of operations
  • Evaluate ergonomic/human factors
  • Develop/validate man-machine interface
  • Develop efficient material flow processes
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop/select materials for the paint shop
  • Conduct short-term travel to suppliers/assembly plants to support/validate tools and systems
  • Perform continuous process improvements
  • Collaborate with other centers to reduce energy and waste globally
  • For Pre Production Operations (Maintenance Group Leader intern): Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions; perform preventative maintenance; establish course of action to accomplish job/project completion
  • For Pre Production Operations (Continuous Improvement Process Tech intern): Work on repair and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment in automotive assembly plant environment; solve problems on the fly; collaborate with team members; interface with new technologies
