Requirements

  • Serve as the System’s Chief Designated Operator
  • Day-to-day management and supervision of operational and maintenance activities for drinking water treatment and distribution system
  • Oversee a team of 5 staff
  • Manage daily operation, maintenance, and compliance of systems, including all associated regulatory sampling programs, in a safe and timely manner
  • Coordinate and communicate with operations staff, client representatives, regulators, contractors, and assigned engineering firms
  • Ensure effective system operation and optimization, staff development, and implementation/management of an innovative predictive maintenance management program
  • Administer and implement routine and capital repair/replacement projects
  • Handle emergency response for process upsets, equipment failures, force majeure events, alarm events, etc
  • Regularly prepare reports for regulators, clients, and the firm
  • Manage project budget, scope, and schedule of contractual obligations
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the client and the firm
  • Work comfortably in a self-directed environment with minimal daily supervision
  • Follow established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures
  • Participate in “on call” rotation for plant coverage outside normal workday hours, including weekends
  • Respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation and maintenance of the Adelanto Public Utility Authority system: 12 groundwater wells, 2 purchased water interconnects, 165 miles of transmission/distribution pipelines, nearly 10,000 water services, 6 reservoirs, 3 booster pump stations, 1 drinking water treatment plant, and 3-zone distribution system
  • Maintain 100% compliance through daily process monitoring and comprehensive maintenance system
  • Work outdoors to protect water resources
