Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer

Position Overview

ERG is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to lead a variety of water infrastructure projects, focusing on assisting communities nationwide. This role provides the opportunity to address critical challenges in delivering clean, safe drinking water and protecting water quality.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state (multiple state licenses preferred)
  • Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience in water or wastewater system planning and design.
  • Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills. Experience evaluating the infrastructure needs of small and rural communities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and analysts for water infrastructure projects.
  • Independently assess community water or wastewater infrastructure needs.
  • Develop clear, well-documented planning documents and technical reports (e.g., Preliminary Engineering Reports).
  • Deliver preliminary and detailed project designs suitable for securing infrastructure funding.
  • Lead meetings with community stakeholders to gather information and facilitate project support and buy-in.
  • Support a variety of other projects, including:
    • Assessing and promoting innovative water and wastewater treatment technologies.
    • Evaluating the design, cost, and environmental impacts of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
    • Supporting efforts to reduce the human health and environmental impacts of PFAS and other emerging contaminants.
