Medical Doctorate (MD) and medical specialization required
10+ years clinical development experience (industry preferred)
Clinical development experience in Phase I-III
Cardiovascular experience preferred
Internal Medicine subspecialty training preferred
Strong network and connectivity to Biotech and mid-size pharma market and key stakeholders (e.g., CMOs and CSOs)

Responsibilities

Serve as West Coast Regional Medical Officer for PPD Biotech, focusing on business development, client engagement, and relationship management
Deliver strategic value, clinical guidance, and credibility to Biotech clients and business development teams
Interact with client Therapeutic Area Heads, CMOs, and senior development staff to understand needs, communicate service offerings, develop proposals, and provide clinical advice
Use scientific and clinical expertise to drive sales performance through scientific engagement and personal networks in industry, AROs, NGOs, government, and academia
Build and maintain credibility for PPD within the West Coast Region Biotech community
Act as extension of Global Medical Officer and Biotech Leadership Team, serving as executive sponsor for high-profile accounts
Lead proposal development, bid defense, sponsor meetings, and provide medicines/device development consultation in support of sales
Serve as regional medical market leader, developing and retaining new accounts, and strategic selling opportunities
Develop and lead regional client events focused on medical/scientific topics under PPD Biotech brand
Partner with business development in technical sales role to provide Biotech-focused clinical expertise and support commercial objectives, including shared sales targets
Build strong scientific network within West Coast Region Biotech community (US West Coast plus Mountain Time zone states)
Interface with internal directorates (Operations, Biometrics, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Global Product Development) to develop optimal proposals and plans
Ensure proper scientific support in award and execution processes, promote innovation, and align with Global Medical Officer on efficiency improvements
Establish strategy and direction for assigned areas in alignment with senior management plans
Develop and manage interpersonal relationships to influence senior leaders internally and externally
