Candidates must possess an active and unrestricted RN license in their state of residence and have at least 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an adult acute care or critical care setting. An Associate's Degree is required, and a BSN is preferred. Experience in a medical-surgical or specialty area is preferred, as is managed care experience, particularly in Utilization Management. Preference is given to candidates residing in PST time zones.
The Utilization Management Nurse Consultant will utilize clinical experience to assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate options for healthcare services and benefits. This role involves gathering clinical information, applying clinical criteria, and making coverage determinations. Responsibilities include communicating with providers, identifying members for referral opportunities, promoting quality and effectiveness of healthcare services, and consulting with internal and external constituents. The role operates 24/7, requiring work on weekends, holidays, and evenings, and involves typical office environment tasks such as computer use and communication.
