Requirements

  • Pursuing a Masters or PhD in a relevant field such as Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, or similar programs
  • Knowledge of qualitative user research and analysis methods
  • Competency in quantitative user research and data analysis methods such as descriptive statistics
  • Familiarity with using Excel or similar tools to generate quantitative findings
  • Ability to switch between multiple projects
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in data collection through interviews, usability studies, or survey analysis
  • Observing participants and note-taking during sessions
  • Coding video and interviews for analysis
  • Gaining insights into what motivates players to play games
  • Assisting in setting up and preparing research studies
  • Support with recruiting participants for research studies
  • Learning about new research methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Developing a basic understanding of game user research
  • Learning about the game development process and how user research supports it
  • Developing strong relationships with the research team
  • Collaborating with the research team to contribute to research efforts
