Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams focused on origination, development, and/or capital formation for clean energy projects
  • Proven track record of commercializing or executing investments and securing partnerships in clean energy
  • Experience in power or natural gas trading and origination, with understanding of market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and contract negotiation in wholesale energy markets
  • In-depth understanding of both competitive and regulated energy markets
  • Strong executive presence and experience interfacing with senior leaders internally and externally

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a global strategy to address energy “ACRE” risks—Access, Cost, Resiliency, and Emissions—across Walmart’s operations and communities
  • Originate, structure, negotiate, and manage long-term offsite energy investments, including tax equity and power purchase agreements
  • Oversee capital deployment into offsite energy projects, ensuring economic value, emissions reductions, and progress toward 100% renewable energy goals
  • Construct and manage a diversified offsite energy investment portfolio, balancing risk, return, and alignment with Walmart’s sustainability objectives
  • Partner closely with the wholesale energy trading team to execute investments and strategies that effectively manage and mitigate Walmart’s energy cost risks
  • Design and implement value-driven strategies to achieve decarbonization targets within defined timelines
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team to identify, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities, fostering a culture of integrity, inclusion, and continuous learning
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with renewable energy developers, industry partners, and financial institutions
  • Lead risk management efforts, including market, regulatory, and operational risk assessment and mitigation for offsite energy investments
  • Represent Walmart in stakeholder engagement on sustainability and renewable energy, including policy and regulatory proceedings
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and maintain frameworks for tracking progress on decarbonization and renewable energy objectives
