Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology, OR Associates degree in electrical engineering or electrical technology, OR formal education equivalent to an Associate’s degree in math and science
Valid Motor Vehicle License
Ability to stand on-call assignments
Strong knowledge of and experience with transmission protection devices (e.g., carrier communication equipment, electro-mechanical and microprocessor relays)
Experience with electrical protection principles and theories
Experience with electronic and computer controlled systems and devices
Knowledge of computer networking techniques and methods
Familiarity with National Electrical and National Electrical Safety Codes
Understanding of relay and control operational and safety procedures
Experience designing testing systems and equipment
Strong organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills for communication
Responsibilities
Performs power factor and breaker timing tests
Analyzes and interprets test results and presents findings for review
Performs basic relay testing
Performs technical calculations for test applications
Performs cable proof tests
Performs cable locating and fault locating services
Assists with the installation and testing of mobile transformers
Locates sources of radio and television interference
Performs prescribed tests on underground network protectors
Performs and supports the troubleshooting, repairing, and testing of electrical devices such as recloser controls, battery chargers, voltage regulators, etc
Adjusts and repairs substation recording and indicating meters (other than watt hour meters)
