Requirements

  • Post secondary in Business, Human Resources or related field
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with employee benefits
  • Advanced MS Office skills (e.g., proficiency in Excel to include using pivot tables, v-look ups and the mail merge feature in Word)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detailed and customer-service oriented

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and administers cost-effective benefits programs such as pension plans and life, health, and disability insurance
  • May also administer the organization's Employee Assistance Program
  • May also be required to be a subject matter expertise in the area of Disability Management and Attendance Support to ensure timely and effective case management
  • Assist our Plan Members with day-to-day medical and dental claims and health benefit-related questions (30% very easy to complex / research-oriented)
  • Audit retirement plan eligibility and participant data such as employee and employer contributions; resolve discrepancies within system and with record-keeper (20% - complex)
  • Benefit plan administration (15% - medium difficulty)
  • Special projects as needed such as file feed enhancements, managing/auditing data, testing (10%)
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned (10%)
  • Work with broader HR team, auditors, finance team, legal, and actuaries on various retirement items (10%)
  • Process life insurance claims (<5%)
