Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (typically no relevant experience required with degree)
  • 2 years of enterprise networking experience and/or a Bachelor's Degree
  • Appropriate advanced industry network certifications (preferred)
  • Learns to use professional concepts and applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues
  • Works on problems of limited scope, follows standard practices and procedures
  • Builds stable working relationships internally
  • Normally receives detailed instructions on all work
  • Knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
  • Knowledge of WAN optimization and QoS on global MPLS networks
  • Basic knowledge of global DNS load balancing and local application load balancing
  • Knowledge of network technologies: Ethernet, TCP/IP, X25, PSTN, GSM/GPRS, MPLS
  • Knowledge of network devices: Cisco, F5, Juniper, Checkpoint
  • Knowledge of issues related to local and wide area network administration

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, support, and secure organization's network communications (LANs/WANs)
  • Identify network problems, isolate root causes, and initiate corrective action
  • Determine priority of action and additional resources required based on severity of service interruption
  • Provide technical analysis to customers to isolate issues and develop strategies to restore or activate services
  • Interact with Telecommunication Engineers, LAN Administrators, and transmission/RF staff regarding network activities
  • Ascertain compliance with security, safety, and environmental guidelines
  • Generate reports on network performance, trouble-shooting results, and routine maintenance
  • Work within demands of a global 24x7 high availability transaction-oriented network
  • Translate business requirements into network requirements and collaborate with technical teams
  • Administration of LAN and WAN network infrastructure and solutions, including licenses
  • Monitoring and optimizing operation of network devices and connections
  • Incident reporting and response to network infrastructure and security incidents
  • Optimizing costs of building and maintaining IT networks
  • Creating network infrastructure documentation
  • IP address ranges administration
  • Maintaining contracts related to services and network devices
  • Assisting with basic network problem-solving solutions within the Global Payments Network
  • Assisting with assigned basic network project and issue resolution tasks
  • Assisting in execution of basic design plans/scripts
  • Assisting in reviewing timely updates to project managers and customers on status of implementations and requests
  • Assisting with production of basic reports on network performance, trouble-shooting results, and routine maintenance
