Requirements

Candidates must possess an active CPA or EA credential with a valid PTIN and have over 5 years of experience in tax preparation and review, including complex individual and business returns. A minimum of 3 years managing teams of tax professionals in a high-volume practice, preferably in a remote environment with review responsibilities, is required. Strong knowledge of federal and state tax compliance rules, proven ability to lead high-performing teams, and demonstrated experience creating and implementing scalable processes, workflows, and quality standards are essential. The role also requires hands-on experience conducting and overseeing tax return quality reviews and a willingness to work outside standard business hours during peak season.

Responsibilities

The Tax Compliance and Quality Manager will lead a team of tax return reviewers, develop and implement review processes and quality metrics, and ensure accuracy and efficiency in reviews. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining quality standards, workflows, and review metrics, hiring, leading, training, and supporting the review team, and providing feedback for performance management. The manager will also implement processes for feedback on errors, set tax preparation standards, make final determinations on complex tax positions, monitor SLAs for review turnaround times, and oversee workforce planning. Additionally, they will share review findings with service delivery and product teams to improve training and processes, and ensure compliance with IRS and state requirements for practice management.
