Senior Systems Engineer
MrBeastFull Time
Senior (5 to 8 years)
Candidates must have an undergraduate degree, with a Master's or PhD in an engineering discipline preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive, robotics, aerospace, or a related industry is required, along with proven experience in requirements specification, metrics, and executing complex vehicle test campaigns. Familiarity with standards like ISO 26262, SOTIF (ISO 21448), and/or UL 4600 is necessary, as are strong fundamentals in mathematics, engineering, and physics, including a basic understanding of vehicle dynamics. Excellent data analysis skills using tools such as Python or Matlab are essential. Experience with vehicle actuation (brakes, steering, propulsion) is also required. Bonus qualifications include experience launching a driverless product, leading small teams of systems engineers, and experience in the automotive self-driving industry, building software systems from scratch, or in robotics or machine learning.
The Systems Engineer will own the creation, documentation, alignment, and verification of vehicle platform requirements, defining efficient methods for their description and evaluation. They will leverage an in-depth understanding of sensors, compute, and actuators to drive an architecture with requirements that ensure a simple, safe, and highly autonomous vehicle platform. Acting as a central point of contact for vehicle platform requirements and related tests, the engineer will communicate updates and progress to stakeholders. Responsibilities include driving Waabi's safety culture through the application of safety standards and methodologies, defining necessary improvements for the vehicle simulator to effectively verify platform aspects, and owning the writing and tracking of tests in line with project milestones. The role involves continuously evaluating and enhancing vehicle platform capabilities, identifying lessons learned, ensuring comprehensive documentation, and implementing tools to automate requirement processes. Collaboration with external partners to deliver a verified and validated safe vehicle platform is also a key responsibility.
Develops self-driving technology for trucking
Waabi focuses on developing self-driving technology specifically for the trucking industry. Their main product, the Waabi Driver, is designed to learn from experiences, adapt to new situations, and work with various hardware setups. This technology aims for large-scale use and is intended for integration into vehicles by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). A key feature that sets Waabi apart from competitors is its use of Waabi World, an advanced simulation environment that allows for efficient development of their self-driving systems. This reduces the need for extensive real-world testing, which can be costly and time-consuming, while also improving safety and adaptability. Waabi's goal is to transform the trucking industry by providing technology that lowers operational costs and enhances safety for commercial vehicles. They aim to license their technology to trucking companies and OEMs, making it easier for these businesses to adopt self-driving solutions.
