Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience; military service/training may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 4+ years of validated experience in inventory management, including chemical handling required; laboratory setting experience highly preferred
  • Experience in Good x Practice (GxP) environment and knowledge of OSHA General Industry requirements preferred
  • Leadership and supervisory abilities, interpersonal skills to lead, coach, and enhance team culture
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional appearance and demeanor; uphold confidentiality and company values
  • Computer proficiency with intermediate Microsoft Office skills; proficiency in Thermo Fisher Scientific ordering/inventory systems and customer's SAP system
  • Basic chemical knowledge including handling, lot numbers, expiration dates, FIFO practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to make timely decisions, re-balance workloads, coordinate priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work primarily at customer sites, including independent work; physical ability for material handling, forklift operation; wear PPE (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs)

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily supervision of small team of customer site-based personnel to deliver high customer service, including ordering lab supplies/chemicals/consumables for POU areas, stockroom management, tracking lot numbers/expiration dates, material handling, forklift operation as needed
  • Optimally lead diverse cross-functional team of on-site inventory specialists; manage complete employee lifecycle (new hire selection, training needs identification, performance evaluations)
  • Deliver on contractual scope of work; develop, track, trend business metrics; collaborate with Program Manager for customer performance reviews
  • Act as liaison between customer and Thermo Fisher Scientific; coordinate onsite vendor escorting and customer visits
  • Support proactive inventory planning by analyzing usage trends, ensuring accurate data entry/maintenance in proprietary systems to optimize stock levels and meet service expectations
  • Write and implement SOPs; conduct site inspections; ensure completion of annual physical inventory
  • Define new opportunities by seeking service expansions; provide capability presentations; support sales team and customer in identifying savings/opportunities
  • Drive process improvement culture by supporting Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives
  • Support safety programs (hazard identification, inspections, incident reporting); communicate and hold staff accountable to safety expectations
  • Positively represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at customer locations; perform other responsibilities as assigned by management
