Staff Product Designer - Firefox Mobile

Position Overview

Mozilla Corporation is seeking a Staff Product Designer with a strong foundation in visual and interaction design to take a strategic lead in shaping the future of Firefox on Android and iOS. This role emphasizes delivering best-in-class native experiences, with a primary focus on Android. The ideal candidate will apply deep knowledge of platform-specific design patterns to craft intuitive, high-quality mobile interfaces, raising the bar on visual and interaction design across platforms. Collaboration with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists is key to advocating for user needs and aligning with Mozilla’s mission of privacy and user empowerment.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead UX Efforts: Spearhead UX for major initiatives in Firefox Mobile, with a strong focus on visual craft and interaction design. Translate user needs and business goals into polished, intuitive experiences that feel native and high-quality across all touchpoints.
  • Design & Prototype: Create intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling mobile experiences that support Firefox’s core values of privacy, security, and performance.
  • Create Design Assets: Develop design storyboards, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate intent and facilitate qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product, engineering, and research teams to align design decisions with business objectives, technical feasibility, and user needs.
  • Advocate for Best Practices: Champion mobile-first UX best practices, ensuring high usability across different devices and screen sizes.
  • Evolve Design System: Contribute to and evolve the Design System, ensuring consistency and usability across mobile platforms.
  • Support Product Strategy: Assist in product strategy from concept to completion for critical user journeys and identify new opportunities.

What You Bring

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing mobile-first design work.
  • Native Design Expertise: Deep expertise in native design languages, with a strong focus on Android and complementary experience in iOS. Proficient in platform-specific patterns, guidelines, and best practices for delivering intuitive, high-quality mobile experiences.
  • Design Balance: Strong ability to balance user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility in design decisions.
  • Privacy & Accessibility Focus: Experience designing for privacy, security, and accessibility in mobile applications.
  • Tool Proficiency: Proficiency with Figma.
  • Collaboration: Highly collaborative with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Presentation Skills: Comfortable presenting and articulating design decisions.
  • Teamwork: Interest in working with geographically distributed cross-functional team members.
  • User-Centricity: Passionate about building products with people’s needs at the center.
