Position Overview

Join Illumina’s Multi-Omics Software team within R&D and play a lead role in the design and development of cutting-edge next generation data and analysis platforms to unlock the power of the genome – to transform healthcare and beyond. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of an innovative, dynamic, and adaptive organization supporting new and on-market cloud-based products that streamline the generation, analysis, aggregation, and extraction of insights from data.

Responsibilities

  • Architect efficient and reusable front-end systems that drive complex web applications.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Software Engineers to deliver compelling user-facing products.
  • Translate design specs into reusable components using HTML5/CSS3, and Angular.
  • Develop software components that meet standards of quality and architecture, including the documentation and implementation of unit tests, scripts, and test harnesses.
  • Work with UX team members to implement prototypes using reusable Angular components and implement UI automation frameworks.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting highly scalable applications.
  • Experience with front-end technologies and/or front-end frameworks.
  • Knowledge of web libraries and frameworks such as Angular, React, Underscore.
  • In-depth knowledge of Java, TypeScript, or at least one other object-oriented language.
  • Familiarity with the whole web stack, including protocols and web server optimization techniques.
  • Expertise in building complex interactive graphical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with numerous aspects of DevOps, including source control, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and containerized deployment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to teach others and learn new technologies.
