Staff Revenue Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Revenue Accountant with a strong background in billing operations and collections to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in revenue accounting and demonstrate a strong understanding of billing processes, collections, GAAP, and revenue recognition principles. This role will focus on ensuring the accuracy of billing operations, improving collections efficiency, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

About You

You bring a solid background in revenue accounting, with a strong grasp of ASC 606 and other relevant standards. With 3-5 years of experience, you have developed expertise in public accounting at a Big 4 firm or gained valuable insights working within a public company. Your analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills enable you to manage complex revenue processes effectively. You exhibit strong communication skills and can collaborate effectively with various teams to drive improvements and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Billing Operations: Manage and oversee the billing process, ensuring timely and accurate generation and distribution of invoices. Work closely with sales and customer support teams to resolve any billing discrepancies.
  • Collections Management: Develop and implement effective collections strategies to reduce outstanding receivables. Proactively monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts in a timely manner.
  • Customer Account Reconciliation: Regularly review and reconcile customer accounts to ensure accuracy and identify any issues or discrepancies. Work with customers and internal teams to resolve any disputes.
  • Revenue Recognition: Review revenue contracts to execute and ensure accurate revenue recognition practices, aligning with ASC 606 and other applicable accounting standards.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to enhancing revenue accounting processes, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and compliance.
  • Close Management: Perform close management, including balance sheet reconciliations and income statement flux analysis for revenue transactions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with finance, sales, legal, and other departments to support business initiatives and ensure accurate revenue forecasting and reporting.
  • Audit & Compliance: Work with internal and external auditors on revenue matters, ensuring adherence to all relevant accounting standards and audit requirements.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Provide insightful revenue reporting and analysis to senior management, supporting strategic decision-making and performance evaluation.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills, particularly with executive leadership, to effectively convey insights and recommendations.
