Senior Software Engineer, Mapping and Routing
Serve Robotics- Full Time
- Senior (5 to 8 years)
The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing scalable, distributed spatial query algorithms and applications. Proficiency in Java and/or Scala is required, along with a strong technical background and a proven track record of building high-quality, maintainable, and observable software. A solid understanding of distributed systems, query engines, DSLs, data structures, and algorithms is essential. Strong communication and collaboration abilities are necessary, especially in a hybrid or distributed team environment. Experience with open-source projects such as Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, DeltaLake, or Trino is highly valued. Hands-on experience programming in Python and familiarity with large-scale geospatial data processing is a plus.
The Staff Geospatial Database Software Engineer will design and implement scalable and efficient query capabilities at the core of our geospatial cloud database. They will implement new vector and raster functions and algorithms to extend Wherobots' capabilities over geospatial datasets. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to define requirements, identify technical solutions, and deliver high-quality software is expected. The engineer will also make open-source contributions to Apache Sedona, Apache Spark, and other open-source software packages as necessary, while staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in geospatial and database technologies to contribute to the technical direction of SedonaDB.
Geospatial data processing and analytics platform
Wherobots offers a spatial intelligence cloud platform that helps clients manage and process geospatial data efficiently. Their product utilizes Apache Sedona, an open-source framework, to perform large-scale spatial data operations on cluster computing systems like Apache Spark. What sets Wherobots apart is its unified interface for all spatial data needs, allowing for seamless operations and real-time data engineering. The company's goal is to simplify the handling of spatial datasets from ingestion to delivery through a subscription model.
