Position Overview

Demandbase is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is pivotal in driving impactful projects, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, and demonstrating deep technical knowledge, especially within our high-performance Go-based systems. You will influence system designs for our real-time bidding platform and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance product offerings. A keen understanding of project 'why' and the ability to proactively identify and execute new projects within a complex codebase are essential.

About the Role

As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate depth of knowledge in technical domains, particularly Go-based systems.
  • Drive projects and influence system designs for our real-time bidding platform.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance product offerings.
  • Understand the 'why' behind initiatives and proactively execute on new projects aligning with team goals.
  • Rapidly learn and contribute within a complex, existing codebase.

Location

  • Primary Location: San Francisco, CA
  • Remote: Considered for highly qualified candidates on a case-by-case basis.

Compensation

  • SF Bay Area Base Compensation Range: $165,000 - $247,000
  • Other Locations: Compensation ranges are location-specific and will be based on the primary work location.
  • Actual Compensation: Determined by a wide array of factors including skillset, years of experience, and depth of experience.

The Team You’ll Be Joining

The advertising team at Demandbase is responsible for serving all digital marketing initiatives for our customers. We operate our own DSP, handling 1 million Queries per second and associated data. Our core "bidder" engine, a critical high-performance system, is written in Go. Our stack heavily utilizes technologies such as Go, Kafka, Kubernetes, and BigQuery. An ideal candidate will be comfortable diving deep into our Go codebase and working with related data and infrastructure components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, data science, and other engineering teams to understand needs, provide technical expertise, and drive collaboration on shared projects related to the bidding platform.
  • Depth of Knowledge: Possess and rapidly develop a deep understanding of our current technology stack, especially the Go-based "bidder" system, its strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. Stay current with industry trends in AdTech and high-performance computing.
  • Influencing System Designs: Provide valuable insights and recommendations for system design improvements within the RTB (Real-Time Bidding) ecosystem.
