Requirements

Candidates must possess at least 12 years of professional software development experience, with a strong command of Go or a similar high-performance language like Java or Rust. Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) for production workloads is essential, alongside a proven track record in delivering scalable, high-performance, and reliable distributed backend systems. Expertise in API design and scaling (RESTful, gRPC, Thrift), including data modeling, error handling, performance optimization, and security, is required. Experience leading architecture and technical direction across multiple teams or product areas, coupled with strong problem-solving skills to address scalability, reliability, and privacy challenges, is also necessary. Excellent collaboration and communication skills are vital for working with stakeholders, and the ability to mentor senior engineers and elevate technical standards is a key requirement. Preferred qualifications include experience with real-time, low-latency data processing systems, knowledge of programmatic advertising or high-throughput transactional platforms, familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code, and experience with advanced monitoring/observability tools.

Responsibilities

The Principal Software Engineer will lead the architecture, development, and technical direction of a new 0-1 product, ensuring its scalability, fault tolerance, and high throughput. They will design and deliver low-latency services and APIs for real-time media activation workloads, driving critical platform features from conception through implementation, testing, rollout, and adoption. This role involves identifying and addressing technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and scalability risks proactively. The engineer will champion architectural patterns and platform capabilities that enhance developer velocity and operational reliability. Additionally, they will promote engineering excellence through constructive code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and driving improvements in code quality, architecture, and platform best practices.
