EarnIn is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Engineer to join their payroll services team. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing backend services for EarnIn's new payroll SaaS product. The position offers excellent benefits, including healthcare, internet/cell phone reimbursement, a learning and development stipend, and potential travel opportunities to their Palo Alto HQ.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build key backend components such as payroll and tax processing engines, ledger services, and pay cycle management.
  • Develop robust, secure, and optimized services and APIs using Go (Golang).
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-impact features.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable backend microservices for the new payroll SaaS product.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues, focusing on root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to building a modern, best-in-class payroll platform for time-critical financial workflows.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality software features within established timelines.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of development experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Go, Python, C#, or similar, with a strong understanding of software engineering best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases.
  • Cloud experience, AWS preferred.
  • Experience managing infrastructure and service configurations using Configuration as Code (e.g., Helm, Kustomize, Terraform).
  • Experience deploying and operating backend services in a Kubernetes-based environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a bias towards action and results.
