Deep expertise in fermentation scale-up
Hands-on experience designing, optimizing, and transferring fermentation processes from demo scale (100L–300L) to commercial manufacturing (5K-30K liters)
Strong technical foundation in bioreactor operations, downstream processing, and process scale-up methodologies
Experience translating demo plant learnings into reliable, commercial-scale processes
Ability to act as a technical leader, driving process development and mentoring junior engineers

Responsibilities

Develop and implement scalable bioreactor operating and control strategies (batch, fed-batch, continuous)
Design and execute scale-up strategies applying principles such as OTR, KLa, impeller design, and mixing dynamics
Translate demo plant data into robust commercial manufacturing processes, leading technology transfer efforts
Lead daily operations of fermentation and downstream unit operations in the Houston demo facility
Support commissioning, qualification, and start-up of new demo-scale and commercial equipment
Provide hands-on troubleshooting and process optimization support in real time
Design and analyze experiments using DoE/statistical methods to drive yield, consistency, and product quality improvements
Lead downstream process optimization including centrifugation, filtration (TFF), freeze drying, and spray drying
Develop SOPs, batch records, and operational narratives to support R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams
Mentor junior engineers and scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, QA/QC, Manufacturing, Regulatory) to ensure smooth process integration
Communicate technical findings and project updates effectively
