Requirements

  • British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship
  • Willingness to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks and SC/DV security clearance process
  • Experience developing complex software products in Defence, Automotive, Aerospace, Telecoms sectors (or similar field)
  • Experience of software security with knowledge of industry security standards and best practices
  • Degree or equivalent experience in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) subject or similar
  • Natural collaborator and technical leader with good communication and influencing skills
  • Comfortable with problem solving, technical challenges, and working with engineers from other disciplines
  • Interest in novel and emerging technologies and security challenges
  • Beneficial: Experience developing embedded software and/or firmware

Responsibilities

  • Guide security aspects of product development across the whole product lifecycle, from concept through to in-service support
  • Provide technical expertise to software development teams and wider project teams on security requirements, techniques, software architecture, design patterns, coding standards, trade-offs, and best practices
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of appropriate technologies and frameworks for software projects
  • Conduct security assessments and risk analyses of technologies and software systems, identifying vulnerabilities and threats, and developing mitigation strategies
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying areas for process improvement and contributing to the development and implementation of software development methodologies, tools, and frameworks
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of security processes, procedures, and guidelines
  • Generate security reports and metrics to track security-related activities, vulnerabilities, and remediation efforts
