Requirements

Minimum 5-6 years of experience in Sybase Database
Proficiency in Sybase ASE & SRS Database Administration
Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization
Experience with UNIX/Linux environments and shell scripting
15 years full-time education
Knowledge of monitoring tools, alerting systems, and incident management platforms

Responsibilities

Provide 24×7 support for Sybase ASE and Sybase Replication Server (SRS) environments, including rotating shifts and on-call duties
Administer and maintain Sybase ASE and SRS databases across development, QA, and production environments
Perform daily health checks, monitoring, and incident resolution to ensure database stability
Execute maintenance activities such as reorgs, update statistics, DBCC commands, index management, and resource allocation
Proactively identify and resolve performance issues through query analysis, optimization, server parameter tuning, index and statistics management
Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
Collaborate with application development, SAP Basis, and infrastructure teams
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents
Perform Sybase ASE upgrades and patching
Manage user access, roles, and permissions for security and compliance
Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and operational standards
Monitor memory, CPU utilization, disk utilization, locks, deadlocks, and query runtime
Create databases, devices, and segments as needed
