Requirements

  • Basic math, organization, and written communication skills
  • Previous shoeshine experience; preferred minimum 1-2 years
  • Ability to effectively build relationships with customers, peers, and leadership through clear and professional communication
  • A willingness to learn, and a high level of ownership for personal growth, accountability and initiative
  • Ability to work independently, with little or no day-to-day direction
  • The ability to embrace a flexible working schedule based on business needs
  • Physical ability for continuous movement for 2-4 hours at a time, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching
  • Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, and crouching to shine and clean shoes
  • Ability to regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Perform and complete Shoe Care tasks according to Nordstrom guidelines and service standards
  • Ensure the shine stand is organized and ready to deliver on customer expectations
  • Shine shoes; provide consultation on care of shoes and minor repair on shoes
  • Utilize store technology to answer phones, check out customers and properly record customer information
  • Meet department and individual productivity goals
  • Communicate supply needs in a timely manner to manager
  • Maintain accurate records of shoe care transactions and record tips daily
  • May flex into other shoe stock and cleaning tasks when needed
