Requirements

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Production Manager or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP's organization, culture, and product lines

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the scheduling and coordination of trucks and drivers according to customer requests and in compliance with DOT regulations and company rules
  • Controlling departmental expenses and generating solutions to issues as and before they arise
  • Notifying drivers of assignments; reviewing and verifying the accuracy of driver's logs and database
  • Managing and scheduling all outbound and inbound loads and coordinating with sales and production
  • Coordinating proper loading and shipping orders with S/R personnel
  • Setting up all loads to be shipped by common carrier with outside freight companies
  • Ensuring inbound product is stored properly
  • Determining mode of transportation and selecting the appropriate carrier
  • Negotiating rates for transportation services
  • Coordinating routing of orders and dispatching carrier with orders and appropriate delivery instructions consistent with customer receiving times
  • Ensuring all internal/external paperwork meets all Universal as well as DOT regulations and procedures
  • Establishing delivery/receiving appointments and loading times for each carrier
  • Managing internal UFP equipment and drivers
  • Answering questions and resolving supplier and customer problems regarding transportation issues
  • Documenting any shortage on orders, investigating reasons for occurrence, and informing carrier of shortage to get compensation or to resolve an issue with the customer with assistance of sales
  • Auditing and approving freight bills for payment
  • Filing claims for any loss or damage on inventory and notifying plant management
  • Taking and acting upon all calls for tracing and/or expediting orders
  • Preparing various reports and correspondence as required
  • Managing data on the data system
  • Performing other duties as required
