Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience in system administration or a related field is required, along with RHCE-level experience with Linux and strong experience with FreeBSD or another similar Unix-based operating system. Proficiency in scripting languages such as shell, Python, and Perl, along with version control systems like Git, is essential. Experience with automation frameworks like Ansible and Terraform, private cloud environments such as OpenStack, and cloud-native application architectures is necessary. The role also requires experience collaborating with peer groups, documenting tasks in tools like Jira and Confluence, and working comfortably with developers and other engineering teams in agile environments. Desired skills include experience with Docker in production and CI/CD environments using Jenkins.

Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Engineer will collaborate closely with development, operations, and other internal and external teams to design and implement new systems and procedures, while also maintaining the existing product platform. This role involves championing automation initiatives, installing, maintaining, and configuring production, staging, and quality assurance environments, and assessing customer needs to provide recommendations for process improvements. The engineer will perform daily operational support, including problem isolation and resolution, contribute to documentation for tools and processes, and obtain, create, and maintain tools for the organization. Responsibilities also include coordinating with other technical staff for system and software implementation, participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation, and regularly reporting progress to management.
