Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Automotive Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and have at least 7 years of industry experience working on complex systems featuring perceptive components such as cameras, radar, and LiDAR. They must demonstrate experience with integration and verification testing of Machine Learning components, including classifiers, detectors, regression models, and encoder/decoders. Proficiency in basic statistics and probability, along with experience with test scripting and data analysis languages like Python and SQL, is required.

Responsibilities

The Senior/Staff Systems Engineer will measure the safety performance of driving software perception algorithms and their impact on downstream behavior across various conditions, including nominal, adverse weather, and corner cases. They will leverage fleet data, structured test track evaluations, log replay simulations, and novel synthetic simulations to contribute to the Zoox Safety Case. This role involves developing new V&V methodologies, managing a small team of engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams (hardware, perception, simulation, compute infrastructure, and operations), performing test data analysis, reporting test results, maintaining traceability between requirements, test cases, and results, and defining automated data extraction tools to streamline analysis and reporting.
