About the Role

Are you interested in working with cutting-edge security services and technologies that significantly impact all teams within a company? The Platform Security team is developing advanced security services and technologies that will be utilized across Confluent's Engineering organization, strengthening the company's overall security posture for internal services. This team is pivotal in driving this initiative and is crucial for enabling various product and engineering endeavors at Confluent.

What You Will Do

• Develop and Enhance: Create and improve services, systems, and infrastructure to provide security functionality and compliance for Confluent Cloud's services and infrastructure.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with all Product and Engineering teams to gather requirements and ensure security systems are designed and built to meet functionality, scalability, and availability needs.
• Deployment and Verification: Collaborate broadly across teams to verify and deploy production changes to Confluent Cloud services and infrastructure.
• System Maintenance: Maintain critical monitoring and alerting systems essential for the smooth operation of Confluent Cloud services and infrastructure.

What You Will Bring

• Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering work experience with a strong track record of delivery.
• Cloud Native Expertise: Expertise in Cloud Native technologies, with experience operating large production workloads in the cloud. Experience with large-scale infrastructure deployments in the cloud is desirable.
• Kubernetes & Containerization: Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization.
• Infrastructure-as-Code: Strong expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform, Cloudformation, AWS CDK, or Pulumi.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure deployment.
  • Experience delivering production code in high-level programming languages like Java, Scala, Python, or Go.
• Distributed Systems: Strong fundamentals in Distributed Systems and their design.
• Monitoring & Telemetry: Experience with telemetry tooling for monitoring production systems.
• Problem-Solving: Confidence in problem-solving and troubleshooting critical services.
• Teamwork & Communication: Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to act critically with minimal supervision in a remote-first environment.
• On-Call: Experience with a rotating on-call schedule for support.
• Education: BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
