Requirements

Candidates should have 5+ years of relevant engineering work experience with a strong delivery record. Expertise in Cloud Native technologies and operating large production workloads in the cloud is required, along with deep knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization. Strong expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code technologies like Terraform, Cloudformation, AWS CDK, or Pulumi is necessary, and candidates must have delivered production code in high-level programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, or Go. Strong fundamentals of Distributed Systems and their design, experience with telemetry tooling for monitoring production systems, and confidence with problem-solving and troubleshooting critical services are also required. A BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is expected. Experience with a rotating on-call schedule and exceptional teamwork, collaboration skills, and the ability to act critically with minimal supervision in a remote-first environment are essential.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer II will create and improve services, systems, and infrastructure to provide security functionality and compliance for Confluent Cloud's services and infrastructure. They will partner across Product and Engineering to gather requirements and ensure security systems are designed and built according to functionality, scalability, and availability needs. Collaboration across teams is required to verify and deploy production changes to Confluent Cloud services and infrastructure, and the engineer will maintain critical monitoring and alerting systems for smooth operations.
