Staff Fullstack Engineer - Grapevine (AI)
Gather AIFull Time
Expert & Leadership (9+ years)
Candidates should have 5-7 years of experience building and scaling production web applications. Strong expertise in Node.js backend development and API design is required, along with experience in database design, query optimization, and data modeling at scale. A track record of building asynchronous job processing systems, handling long-running operations, and experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) and CDN configuration are also necessary. Preferred qualifications include deep experience with video processing (FFmpeg, transcoding, streaming protocols), background in AI/ML product development or computer vision applications, and familiarity with video editing workflows, media asset management, or creative tools.
The Fullstack Engineer will architect and build the infrastructure that powers AI-driven video workflows at scale. This includes designing and implementing scalable backend architecture using Next.js API routes and Node.js, building robust video processing pipelines for ingestion, transcoding, and multi-format exports, and creating background job systems for long-running video operations. Responsibilities also involve architecting data models and database schemas, implementing authentication, authorization, and session management systems, and optimizing video storage and CDN delivery for thousands of concurrent users.
AI system for video content understanding
Twelve Labs focuses on artificial intelligence and video understanding by developing a system that analyzes videos to extract key features like actions, objects, and speech. This information is transformed into vector representations, enabling fast semantic search within large video datasets. The company differentiates itself by providing a platform that is faster and more effective than many existing models, allowing developers and product managers to easily integrate its technology through an API. Twelve Labs aims to make all videos searchable, enhancing the way businesses utilize video content.
