Requirements

Candidates should possess 8+ years of relevant work experience, including 2-3 years as a technical lead for a small-to-mid-sized development team. Essential skills include excellent problem-solving, ownership, communication, and leadership abilities. Experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Server Backend Distributed and Parallel Systems, Full Stack Development, Scalable Enterprise Platforms and Applications, Application Security, and Incident Management. A deep knowledge of software architecture, Micro Services, Java-based APIs, and systems testing is necessary, along with an in-depth understanding of NoSQL database implementations (e.g., Cosmos, MongoDB). A clear understanding of design principles for building large-scale, robust platforms and a proven ability to share knowledge through mentoring, code reviews, design document reviews, and technical talks are also required. Knowledge of system performance, application security, monitoring tools, metrics, and techniques is also needed.

Responsibilities

The Senior Backend Engineer will provide technical leadership to an agile development team responsible for features and applications used in multiple International Stores. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, creating software design specifications, and providing high-level estimates. The role involves designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and improving scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs, microservices, and components using technologies like Java Spring Boot, Kafka, SQL Database, and Cache. The engineer will perform design and code reviews, oversee development lifecycles, analyze application logs and performance data, and evaluate change requests. They will also track and provide guidance for resolving critical tech debts, troubleshoot technical issues, participate in root cause analysis, and document code and technical specifications. Additionally, the role requires contributing to research and implementation of best practices and emerging technologies, and sharing knowledge with team members and stakeholders.
