About the Team

The Privacy Engineering team is a specialized group focused on designing and implementing controls to enable secure access to sensitive data across our environment in a manner that is simplified, quick, reduces toil and decreases risk. The group develops and maintains the technical foundations to handle data responsibly, comply with privacy regulations, and build customer trust. This work spans access control mechanisms, data lifecycle management tools, data masking and anonymization and meeting data protection frameworks and regulations.

What You'll Do

• Build and elevate the data governance tech stack in the org by integration to critical assets
• Design and implement technical controls for least privilege access to data
• Develop data masking and anonymization solutions to protect PII
• Help build alerting systems to detect and respond to unusual data access patterns
• Build and oversee automated tools for data lifecycle management and retention
• Partner with security, compliance, privacy and product teams to ensure privacy by design
• Enable responsible data use that balances innovation with privacy protection

What You'll Bring

• Experience with key technologies: Typescript, React, React Native, GraphQL, Python and Ruby on Rails
• Cloud experience: Building in the cloud like AWS and with services like S3, Kafka, EKS, Redshift, Snowflake
• Data security understanding: Understanding of data exposure risks and applying data security principals to decrease risk exposure
• Data governance tools: Understanding of data classification, identification and discovery systems like data flow mapping and lineage tools
• Regulatory knowledge: Working with data protection frameworks and regulations
• Security mindset: A security led mindset where you seek to build and ship secure solutions
• Problem-solving skills: Flexibility and creativity; you enjoy coming up with novel ways to solve problems and work through constraints
• Collaboration: Value open communication and working on an exceptionally transparent, debate-and-feedback-driven team
• Mentorship: Experience in and a desire to mentor fellow developers through pairing, code review, and in-the-moment feedback
• Access Control: Experience with Access control systems and identity management
• Security Tooling: Experience with security tooling like DLP controls
