About the Role
We’re looking for a high-energy, hands-on Senior Revenue Accountant who has significant experience with reviewing B2B SaaS sales contracts, managing appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606, and participating in day-to-day billing and revenue accounting activities. The ideal candidate thinks strategically on a process level and also executes in the details. They are comfortable using core systems and tools and think automation first when designing process. What You'll be Doing
- Review B2B SaaS sales contracts to ensure 100% compliance with ASC 606 (or relevant revenue recognition standards) for all revenue transactions.
- Review and execute Sales Orders, billing transactions and revenue schedules
- Apply revenue recognition policies to complex contracts and issues.
- Proactively identify and implement additional controls or reconciliations needed within the Q2C process.
- Develop and execute reconciliations for areas identified as needing additional controls or tie-outs.
- Maintain a near-zero error rate in revenue-related transactions, approvals, and reconciliations.
- Complete all revenue-related close tasks within established deadlines, consistently.
- Produce accurate and timely revenue reports for management review.
- Identify and assist in implementing efficiencies to minimize month-end close time.
- Prepare monthly revenue and reclassification journal entries.
- Conduct monthly revenue flux analysis and miscellaneous revenue adjustments as needed.
- Maintain all transaction support records and documentation in an organized and audit-ready state.
- Coordinate efforts to gather documentation and reporting for auditors.
- Participate and contribute to audit walkthroughs and ad-hoc discussions.
- Assist in ensuring SOX compliance regarding revenue-related controls.
- Demonstrate or develop proficiency in SFDC, with the ability to extract necessary data in the form of basic to moderately complex reports.
- Demonstrate or develop proficiency in NetSuite, including the ability to extract necessary data for reports and saved searches with limited support.
- Demonstrate or develop an understanding of the Advanced Revenue Module (ARM) in NetSuite to trace revenue transactions from transaction documents to the general ledger.
- Assist in identifying and troubleshooting system-related revenue accounting issues.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Sales, Deal Desk, Finance, Legal, and other departments.
- Recognize and effectively communicate the cross-functional impacts of accounting projects, changes, or discoveries.
- Effectively communicate revenue accounting requirements to non-financial stakeholders.
- Work with sales teams to ensure contracts are structured to allow for scalable processing and proper revenue recognition.
- Identify and assist in implementing process improvements, particularly automation and AI enabled processes, to enhance efficiency, scalability, and accuracy in revenue accounting.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date documentation on revenue accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide insightful analysis of revenue trends and variances.
- Develop and maintain key reconciliations to ensure complete and accurate revenue accounting and ARR reporting on a monthly basis.
