Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 1-3 years of direct experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition, or 3-5 years of progressive general accounting experience with a strong understanding of revenue principles, is required. Proven experience with ASC 606 system implementations (e.g., NetSuite ARM module or similar), or Big 4 audit experience with a CPA license, is also necessary. A strong understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP Accounting), excellent communication skills, superb attention to detail, proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and Word/Google Docs, excellent research and analytical skills, and enthusiasm for building systems and processes in a rapidly growing business are essential.
The Revenue Recognition Accountant will prepare and analyze revenue accounting entries for month-end close, ensuring accurate deferred revenue waterfalls at a customer contract level. This role will own the end-to-end revenue accounting for Firstup and conduct research on complex revenue arrangements, including owning ASC 606 revenue recognition in NetSuite (ARM module) monthly. Responsibilities include performing detailed reviews and analysis of Master Agreements and Contracts to ensure proper revenue recording and policy compliance, performing SSP analysis as needed and creating processes for ongoing maintenance, and reviewing Order Perfection for data accuracy and revenue recognition impact in Salesforce. The role ensures the application of GAAP to complex revenue transactions, supports coordination of annual audit activities with external auditors, and participates in the continuous improvement of revenue recognition processes and systems.
