Requirements

Candidates must possess at least 5 years of increasing responsibility in transportation safety, compliance, or environmental programs within logistics, manufacturing, or service operations. Expertise in DOT/FMCSA regulations with 5+ years as a compliance SME is required, along with experience designing and delivering driver training programs and managing fleet safety performance. Strong communication skills to influence across all organizational levels are essential. An Associate degree in safety, logistics, transportation, or equivalent experience (4+ years) is necessary, as is proven experience with safety audits and corrective action implementation. Preferred qualifications include leadership experience in transportation safety programs, fleet operations, and driver development, familiarity with safety technologies, experience in foodservice, distribution, or manufacturing environments, a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field, and CSP or PMP certification.

Responsibilities

The Senior Program Manager will champion Sysco's commitment to safety by ensuring transportation compliance is understood enterprise-wide and represented with integrity to industry associations and regulatory stakeholders. They will serve as a strategic partner to Legal, Public Relations, and Public Policy teams, providing subject matter expertise on federal and state transportation regulations and anticipating changes that may impact operations. Responsibilities include analyzing transportation safety data to detect trends, mitigate risks, and recommend enhancements, leading the development and lifecycle management of transportation safety policies, and delivering clear, actionable communications on risks, trends, and mitigation strategies. The role involves proactively identifying safety and compliance challenges and developing forward-thinking plans, mentoring a team of professionals in risk assessment, policy development, and training, and conducting recurring audits of transportation safety and compliance processes. Monitoring key safety metrics weekly and monthly to drive resource allocation and risk reduction strategies, and promoting continuous improvement using Lean principles and safety-first thinking are also core duties.
