Candidates must possess a BS Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or a related field with at least 8 years of experience in safety-focused or regulated industries such as Automotive, Transportation, Aerospace, or Robotics. Deep technical expertise in safety engineering, preferably in a high-tech environment with experience in autonomous technology, is required. Excellent communication skills to articulate safety strategies and engage with partners, regulators, and stakeholders are essential, along with the ability to identify and solve complex safety problems and hands-on data analysis skills. Previous experience in AV companies and a strong understanding of current safety standards and best practices for running a fleet of autonomous vehicles are considered advantageous.
The Head of Safety will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive safety strategies for delivery operations, including autonomous vehicle systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and establishing industry best practices. Responsibilities include leading safety assessments, audits, and inspections, overseeing risk management processes, and defining the company's safety vision and strategy. The role involves building and managing a team, working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations leads, and overseeing safety-related projects. The Head of Safety will communicate the company's safety strategy to partners, regulators, industry bodies, and the public, develop and implement safety training programs, and investigate accidents and incidents to recommend corrective actions.
