Requirements

  • Technical leadership in process control, including design, controls philosophy, implementation, and commissioning
  • Experience with DCS and SCADA software design, coding/configuration, testing (sequence logic, graphics, batch software)
  • Ability to perform automation engineering activities including design, tuning, and troubleshooting of control loops
  • Expertise in devising functional requirements and process control strategies in collaboration with Process Engineering
  • Knowledge of electronic systems such as plant historians, applications, and software integration for production data
  • Capability to maintain validated state of control systems per Lilly quality standards, including validation strategies and documentation
  • Demonstrated initiative, good planning and organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and commitment to task completion
  • Experience leading/participating in design reviews, DeltaV application software reviews, equipment and software FATs
  • Ability to technically lead and oversee Site Area leads and System Integrators (Functional Requirements, Design Specifications, etc.)
  • Skills in promoting automation for productivity, operational efficiency, and compliance
  • Ability to develop a network of corporate contacts and leverage expertise

Responsibilities

  • Mentor process control team
  • Develop and implement the Automation Engineering Project Plan
  • Technically lead and oversee work of Site Area leads and System Integrator
  • Lead/participate in design reviews and DeltaV application software reviews; attend FATs
  • Lead a team of automation engineers supporting commissioning
  • Provide periodic status updates to Project Management
  • Provide automation support for capital projects including new product introductions
  • Coordinate process control work implementation
  • Ensure reliable and compliant control applications and systems in manufacturing
  • Influence and implement within process control organization and across functional disciplines
  • Set and reinforce standards for rigor in automation work products in coordination with consultants
  • Support project delivery, startup (2025-2028), organization building, systems/processes for GMP operations, and site culture
